Terms of Service
Version 1.0 — last updated 4 July 2026
Welcome to Sloppit. These Terms are a plain-English agreement between you and us. They cover using the site, creating an account, and uploading your own games — including the promises you make about what you upload and who's responsible for it. Please read them; the parts about ownership of what you upload, your responsibility for it, and what we can remove matter.
1. Who we are and your agreement
"Sloppit", "we", "us" and "our" mean the service at sloppit.net (the "Service") — a place to discover, play, and share games, including games made with AI. Sloppit is operated by an individual based in the United Kingdom.
By using the Service, creating an account, or uploading anything, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old (and old enough where you live to agree to these Terms and to our processing of your data).
- You sign in using a third-party provider (GitHub to start, with others to follow). You're responsible for keeping your account secure and for everything that happens under it.
- Give accurate information, don't impersonate anyone, and don't share your account.
- We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.
3. Your content and the licence you grant us
"Your Content" means the games, code, assets, images, text, and anything else you upload or submit. You keep ownership of Your Content.
So that we can actually run the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable licence to host, store, cache, back up, reproduce, and reformat or adapt (for technical purposes like delivery and display), and to publicly display, perform, and distribute Your Content — in order to operate, provide, improve, and promote the Service. That includes serving your game on the site, embedding it in a player, and featuring it in listings, previews, and marketing for Sloppit.
This licence lasts while Your Content is on the Service, and for a reasonable time afterwards to the extent we need it to remove Your Content from backups and caches. You can delete Your Content or your account at any time; we'll stop displaying it publicly and remove it within a reasonable period, except where we must keep it to comply with the law. Keep your own copies — we don't guarantee to store or back up Your Content for you.
4. Your promises about what you upload
Every time you upload, you confirm that:
- you own Your Content, or have every right, licence, and permission needed to upload it and to grant the licence in Section 3;
- it doesn't infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights, and isn't defamatory or otherwise unlawful;
- it contains no malware, viruses, or malicious or harmful code;
- you've disclosed your use of AI tools accurately; and
- any third-party assets (art, music, code, models, fonts) are used with permission or under a licence that allows it. Being credited by someone is not the same as having their permission — don't re-host games or assets you found unless you're actually allowed to.
5. You're responsible for your content
You are solely responsible for Your Content and for how you use the Service. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sloppit and its operator against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.
6. Acceptable use
You must not:
- upload malware or any code designed to harm, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to systems, the Service, or other users;
- attempt to escape the game sandbox, escalate privileges, or attack, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the security of the Service;
- upload illegal, infringing, hateful, harassing, sexually exploitative, or otherwise harmful content;
- collect or expose other people's personal data, or attempt to de-anonymise, harass, or impersonate anyone;
- use the Service to send spam or unsolicited advertising, or to get around rate limits, storage caps, or moderation; or
- misrepresent who made a game or where it came from.
We may set and change limits — such as upload rate, file size, and storage — to keep the Service running for everyone.
7. Moderation and removal
Games may be published and playable straight away. We don't pre-screen uploads and we don't endorse user content. We may remove, disable, hide, or refuse any content, and suspend or terminate any account, at our discretion — for example if it breaks these Terms, draws complaints, or creates risk — with or without notice.
The Service includes a way to report content. Whether a game is featured on the front page or in any curated list is up to us and doesn't imply endorsement. We're not obliged to host, keep, restore, or back up any content.
8. Copyright and takedowns (DMCA)
We respect intellectual property rights and expect you to do the same. If you believe content on Sloppit infringes your copyright, email hello@sloppit.net with:
- your name and contact details;
- identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed;
- the URL of, or enough detail to locate, the content in question;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use isn't authorised by the owner, its agent, or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner; and
- your physical or electronic signature.
We'll remove or disable content we reasonably believe infringes, and we may tell the uploader. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
9. Disclaimers and limits on our liability
The Service and all user games are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. Games are made by users, not by us — we don't guarantee they're safe, accurate, lawful, or fit for any purpose, and you play them at your own risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sloppit and its operator won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service or any user content. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law — for example, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
10. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access at any time, including for breaking these Terms. The parts of these Terms that should reasonably continue afterwards — the licence in Section 3 (to the extent stated there), your promises, the indemnity, the disclaimers and liability limits, and the governing-law section — survive termination.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We'll update the "last updated" date above, and for material changes we may ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept it.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
